June 19, 2009 - The Burning Shore Review is now on line! We had originally envisioned our arts journal to a an old-fashioned paper and ink project, but we've decided to bring it to the net instead. The first issue features work by Ben Pleasants, Rose Hunter, Damion Hamilton, and Ryan Ritchie.

April 15, 2009 - 3am Magazine has just posted two new poems by Rob Woodard. We hope you get the time to check them out.

January 11, 2009 - Joy Wood of Long Beach's Gazzette Newspapers has just posted a nice litle blog on BSP. We hope you check it out.

November 24, 2008 - 3am Magazine has recently posted a great interview with Tony O'Neill to mark the publication of his latest novel, Down and on on Murder Mile. We hope you get the time to check it out. Also, in the same issue, there is poetry by Ben Pleasants, the man Bukowski alled the Berverly Hills Anarchist and an old friend of BSP. Check that out too!

November 21, 2008 - We hope you were able to attend the recent Tony O'Neill-Dan Fante reading in Los Angeles. For those who couldn't make it, here's Ryan Ritchie's LA Weekly review of the proceeeding. A good time was had by all.

October 13, 2008 - Dan Fante and Tony O'Neill will be reading together in Los Angeles at Skylight Books at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, November 19th. This will be the first time these two have read together and it will no doubt be a special event.

October 13, 2008 - Down and Out on the Murder Mile, Tony O'Neill's latest novel, will be released October 28 on Harper Perennial. For fans of Tony's first novel and his poetry this book is a must. We hope you get the time to check it out and support this great writer.

Note: The Raun Yankovich led readings here in Long Beach have been suspended. Koos turned out to be a poor venue and he is currently on the lookout for a new spot. We'll let everyone know when things get going again.

September 3, 2008 - Beginning this week, Koos Art Center (540 E. Broadway, here in Long Beach) will be featuring literary readings each Thursday night. Rob Woodard will be reading this week (and perhaps in future weeks) and so will friends of BSP such as Ryan Ritchie. Things will get going at around 7:30.

These readings will be run by Raun Yankovich, who until recently ran the Friday night reading series at Acres of Books. Come down, hear some great writers, and help support the good work Raun's doing.

August 16, 2008 - YouTube is currently featuring videos of Tony O'Neill reading "Mark Twain and I" and "War Every Day", from Songs From The Shooting Gallery, as well as excerpts from Down and Out on the Murder Mile, his forthcoming novel. They all really capture what Tony's writing's about. We hope you get the chance to check them out.

July 13, 2008 - Matthew Firth's introduction to What Love Is, Rob Woodard's forthcoming novel, has just been posted in the "Reviews and Essays" section of this site. The novel should be out soon, but in the meantime we hope you get a chance to read Matt's take on it.

July 7, 2008 - Separation (The Blonde Girl), the fourth poem in Rob Woodard's "Munch Cycle" has just been published by Dogmatika. This means that the entire series is now on line. Check out Woodard's "Writers Corner" section to read the rest.

Also, for those of you in the Long Beach area, Woodard's review of Dan Fante's Kissed by a Fat Waitress appears in this week's issue of The District. It's available for free in newsstands all over town.

June 8, 2008 - "Farewell Letter To Edvard Munch", the final poem in Rob Woodard's Munch Cycle, has just been published in his Writer's Corner section of this site. To read other poems in this series click on the link at the end of the poem.

May 30, 2008 - Rob Woodard's review of Kissed by a Fat Waitress, Dan Fante's latest collection of poetry, has just been published by 3am magazine. We hope you get the time to check it out.

May 26, 2008 - We just wanted to let everyone know that our friends at Sun Dog Press have just published Kissed by a Fat Waitress, Dan Fante's latest collection of poetry (a few of these poems appear in Dan's Writers Corner section of the BSP site). It's a truly wonderful book we know you'll enjoy.

May 18, 2008 - BSP is proud to present The Tony O'Neill-Rob Woodard duel interview. It's rare to have two writers interview each other in this manner and we think the results justify more meetings of this type. Check it out in the "Interviews" section of the site.

March 28, 2008 - Burning Shore Press Goes Green! We wanted to alert you all to some very interesting writings concerning the environment of our home region. Rob Woodard, on his blog, has just published two important poems on this subject: Orange Crush and Environmentalist Poem. Wetlands biologist Eric Zahn (Woodard's cousin) also has some important things to say in a recent District article on the Long Beach wetlands. We hope you all take the time to give these a read. Things need to change big time around here--and it's time to start this process.

March 19, 2008 - We are sad to report that Arthur C. Clarke, one of the giants of science fiction literature, has died. He was a big favorite at here at BSP and we will miss him greatly. Our condolences to his family, friends, and many fans the world over.

Anyone curious about Rob and his work should definitely check it out--for it's unusually indepth and pesonal look into the world of this normally very private writer.

February 1, 2008 - We recently stumbled upon a review of Rob Woodard's Heaping Stones on BookReview.com Since we had no idea the review existed, we're assuming that most of our readers have not read it either and have decided to supply a link to it.

December 31, 2007 - BSP author Rob Woodard has just created King of Long Beach, his own blog site. It's brand new and still very much a work in progres, so we're encouraging people to visit the site, post, and generally help get the project off the ground.
